Automated tests are generally introduced into a project to solve issues such as repetitive manual work, working with large data sets, or getting faster feedback in a CI/CD pipeline. Whatever the reason, creating a test automation strategy is a critical step to ensuring higher Return On Investment (ROI), more test coverage, and increased test reliability.
However, without a proper automation strategy, you may be left wondering what tools to use, what test to automate and what team members to use. This will affect the return you get after spending hours and months writing automated tests.
A test automation strategy guides you into implementing test automation in a way that is repeatable. It helps you identify the goal(why), who is the team, how you will be doing the test automation(tools), when and where you will automate, and very importantly WHAT you will be automating. This is important as while test automation significantly expands test scope and coverage, automating EVERY test will take more cost, effort, and time than is practical.
In this talk, I will guide you through creating a test automation strategy that will help to ensure a higher Return On Investment (ROI) while answering critical questions that will help to provide clarity to you and your team.
